Super Well Done!!

You all did great, guys!! The speed it took you to improve was tremendous and I could feel the tension of the play. I had goosebumps!! We are all really proud of all of you. Just continue improving, guys and you will have a great future ahead of you.

Now, Cresendo was officially the last day I would see you guys and this will be the very last post I present to you. I have been harsh and cold to many of you at most times. Forgive me. I have no excuse for it. I have learnt many things from all of you and I thank you for that. I will remember all of you for you have left a great, great impact in my life. Hey all drama club members!!

This is Sarah, drama club graduate of 2009, here to give the first post in year 2010.

First and foremost, I would like to give a warm welcome to all Sec. 1 members. This is the CCA where everyone is SUPER crazy and daring enough to go on stage and act with all our hearts and souls. So, don't be shy. In fact, just be the opposite because we need that "special" characteristic to become great drama actors and hopefully get a Gold for SYF 2011!! So, wishing all Sec. 1s a great 4 years in Coral Sec Drama Club.

Second, I would like to give a warm welcome to the new teachers of the Drama Club, Miss Tan, Mr Khng and Mrs Lim. All of you came in at a time of chaos, rushing to meet the deadline for Cresendo, panicking and stressing over the props and costumes. That's what our Drama Club is like. Always rushing for time when a performance is coming up and slacking when there is none. What I would like to say is thank you for sticking with it up till now, though you might not have a choice. Your job is not easy, and it is really great of all of you to be able to cope with it. Hang on a while longer. This will come to a pause in a week's time and then, you can take a breather.

Speech Day 2010
Great job today, guys!! You have really come far. Today, you guys were serious and focused on stage. You have all shown a great improvement and I am sure that one day, our Drama Club will surpass our usual standards and win in competitions. Cresendo is coming in a week, keep up with the momentum, don't stop, and I am sure you will do even better at Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel. More importantly, don't get stressed, don't panic, and just have fun on stage. Don't bother about how the people in the audience might react to the performance. Even if nobody claps for you on that day, just know that you did your best and you did great. And the teachers and I will be behind you, cheering you on. All the best for Cresendo!!

Hello!

Congratulations to all Drama CCA award winners for yesterday's speech day :)
Gold for me (muhahahaha) and Sarah,
and Bronze for Afiqah, Diana, Justin, Kay yee, Seraphina and Melvin.

We should have taken a photo together hor... very wasted.
But nvm, we'll have plenty of opportunities to do so at the BBQ.

I'm not sure why there isn't a Drama Silver CCA award receipient,
but it doesn't matter, congratulations to all once again!
Secondary ones to threes, you will get yours in time to come :)

Any day now, we HOPE to hear some news about the June BBQ from the lovely Cheryl and Hui xin.
Yes, any day now...

Hopefully the date of the BBQ can be sorted out before the holidays begin,
and we can quickly allocate who brings what :)
Cheryl and Hui xin deserve a pat on the back (hah!).
It's certainly not easy to plan the BBQ, especially with us seconday fours having to come back to school... almost... everyday.

Bleh.

hello guys ! Cheryl here :D I really think that all of us from secondary 2's to sec 3's will miss you sec 4's dearly because we really were like a big clownish family when we were doing syf and we all went through the suffering and stuff but we still made it and when we did the show and when we bowed , i knew that everyone of us was upset that we had nothing else to do and we all felt like crying cos we did a really great job ...(: and looking at sarah's farewell video and all the pictures herman posted , i don't know about you guys but i really felt like crying cos trust me after u sec 4's leave we dramaclubbers will be feeling something empty . and for you guys , you would definitely miss the drama moments we all spent together right ? haha , so for right now we should all do our best and pass our mid-year exams very well and after that will be our annual drama camp ! maybe we might even be throwing in a BBQ . cos we really don't want to miss another moment with our dearest seniors ! :( And i wish i could give Herman , diana , afiqah , sarah , seraphina , kayee , doreen and last but not least those two clowns -.- melvin and jasmeet lols well, whether i find them idiotic anot i still feel i love all you guys soo much ! Hey all Drama Club Members,

Today is the official STEPPING-DOWN day for all Sec. 4s and 5s but I didn't want to leave just like that. I STOLE all the the photos from Herman and tried to put my creativity to the test by making a video. I still looks bad but this is one of the few I have made. Watch it!!

Everyone, please don't be sad or disappointed about our BRONZE. Honestly, I still feel we did the best but there is always room for improvement right?

Everyone will fall at least once in their life but what matters is that we pick ourselves up again. Never stay down to get trampled on. Stand tall and give your best each time and opportunity you are given.

We can still cry about our bronze but not for long. We must pick ourselves up again and set our eyes on the GOLD. Never take your eyes off it. With this bronze, the only way is UP!! So work hard and I am certain we will achieve sooner than we expect.

Let us continue on our journey ahead and never turn back. Just catch some short glimpses of the past to learn from our mistakes because our destination is ahead of us, our GOLD is ahead of us.

Well, my fellow Coral Dramaclubbers,
the results have been out since Wednesday.
Coral Secondary School has obtained a Bronze award in the SYF Drama Central Judging 2009.
:)

Yes I know,
It wasn't the Gold or even the Silver that we were much anticipating.
And yes, I will be frank, I was quite shocked myself on the night the results were out.
It made me down and it also made me wonder what went wrong. It was an eye opener.

But of course, the next day, when we all met up at the canteen to discuss the results,
I was happy to see the togetherness and love.
Like everyone says, it doesn't matter.
Because in my heart, I will always believe that we are of gold standard.

In ALL our hearts, we must believe we are of gold standard. And we are. Definitely.

This Drama Club shall take our Bronze award with pride and with dignity.
We shall take it not as a failure, but as one more stepping stone in our little journey to the top.
As I've mentioned the quote before, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with one footstep."
Please continue to strive and to hope for the best.

Tomorrow marks the school's 10th anniversary, and also the senior's 'official' step down date.
I really wished that we could showcase our performance to the rest of the school population, but we can't, unfortunately.
The remaining SYF cast and the secondary one students will 'merge' together soon.
Please play nice ah, must spread the love around!

And secondary one students,
I heard that you all had drama skits put up last Friday.
I apologise on behalf of the secondary twos to fives who did not turn up to watch the occasion.
We were not given the exact details :(

No matter, I look forward to your future productions with the remaining SYF cast!
I am also eagerly waiting for the judge's comments and our SYF video!

We did it.
We've come a long way, my fellow dramaclubbers.
And after many consecutive days, weeks and months of sweat, blood and tears shred,
today finally marks the end of our wonderful journey together.
And dare I say, I loved every second of it - really.

Yes - only with the combined efforts of each and everyone of you, did we manage to succeed in the end eventually.
And to be quite frank, ya. We were bloody awesome. Period.

I believe we all deserve a pat on the back for ourselves.
You've put in your all, and you know you've done all that you can, and that is all that matters.
I am excited to hear our results, and I am confident that we will get a good placing :)

Its counting down,3days is ending-
Well,iagree that everyone is working extremely for that gold medal we desire.
Its the last lap now people.
Monday is going to be our very last rehearsal, so do giv it your very best shot and treat it like the actual performance.
Like MissAmy says, (adjusting voice)- Improvise people,i am not going to be there on the actual day telling you this,telling you that.
If you are unsure about anything,do approach MissAmy and iam very sure shes more than willing to help us right, drama?
Haha,okays, thats like super lame.
Furthermore,victory is important, but enjoyment is more essential.
When you feel the character, you act it out.
OMG,this is getting crazy.

Motivation in our final hours

My fellow Dramaclubbers,

We have but 8 more days to our SYF central judging.
8 more days to give it our all.
8 more days to work together as the SYF cast.
8 more days to achieve our Gold.

To us seniors especially, this would be our last and final production.
Let's not forget to make it our best.

I know that things might still seem bleak, and things might still seem unclear.
But there are things that we possess that must never diminish from our hands:
Our teamwork, our determination, our strength and our HOPE.

I know, the state of our costumes and props are still questionable.
And to be frank, our acting and dance moves could use a lot of polishing as well.
But we mustn't lose hope, as things are turning out in our favour.
Us seniors are trying are best to sort out the costumes and props, and Ms Amy has sorted out the boxes (thank you!).

As for the rest of the SYF cast, we only ask for one small favour:
Put in all your efforts, your commitment and your willingness to succeed. 8 days is not long.
We will have practices on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday,
and next Monday and Tuesday (before our actual SYF at 1000 hours)

We can do it, we can succeed.
And if you could imagine that feeling of achieving Gold,
I'm sure you'll find that deep down in your hearts, you really want to achieve it.
Let's set aside our egos for the next week and just work together :)

Hey Dramaclubbers,

Seniors would probably find this post more interesting.
Badrul sent me the fire skit 2007 competition video he found on the SCDF website,
and I thought it would be nice to upload on youtube for all to see!

Sec one and two members, you will not know what I'm talking about. Here is a brief introduction.
The Civil Defence Fire Prevention Skit is an annual competition held for drama societies
in secondary schools to showcase a play they have created with a lesson on fire prevention.
We used to participate every year, but unfortunately we were busy with Crescendo in 2008.

In 2007, we won the 1st Runner-up (2nd place) trophy and Diana also won the Best Actress Award.
I was not in this production because I was busy with the School Arts Festival (Rapunzel Uncut!).
Perhaps sometime we should try and have a look around the school and ask
the media/FMC club if they have a copy of Rapunzel Uncut! ;)

SYF Central Judging 2009

Anglo Chinese School (Barker Road) - Drama Theatre
1000 hours, 14 April

Dear Drama SYF participants,

Time is running out.
Our SYF piece is in... pieces. Literally.
We have slightly more than a month left to SYF.

Ms Amy's style of training is scary.
I feel like we are tangling on a thin strand of thread.
Usually by now we would have already finished blocking the entire play
and would be practising it again over and over for perfection.

We have barely finished blocking the acting parts,
and we are currently working on our movement and 'dance' moves.
Costumes, props, music - argh!

On your part,
I hope that you will all co-operate and work together as a team.
We are all in this together, and we will emerge together as one at the end of the finish line.
The journey is as important as the destination. We can make it.

I hope to see more teamwork and seriousness in future practice sessions, myself included (I goof off a lot!).
Use training time properly and fruitfully, because quite frankly
we are each paying a large sum of money for our training. Don't play play.
We want the Gold, and we can achieve it if we put in our best efforts. Nothing is impossible.

To all drama club members,

please wear it every drama session.

To wash, you can handwash.
Otherwise, to machinewash, you must put the t-shirt inside a net.
You cannot iron.
If you wish to iron, flip the t-shirt inside out and iron the inside only.

me, Cheryl, Diana and Sarah visited the t-shirt warehouse yesterday.
Production will begin this Monday, 23 February,
and the t-shirt will be ready approx. next Monday, 2 March :)

We have some good news and some bad news.
We will discuss them next drama session on Tuesday.

Drama clubbers,

I've noticed that a few of you are not putting in the effort to turn up for all drama sessions.
We are currently working towards SYF, an extremely important central judging competition.
Our Goal can be achieved. Our Gold is waiting for us. It is whether you want it or not.

So please, put in the effort.
I know it's tiring, I know it's hard,
but we have an awesome trainer, an awesome play script and an awesome cast.
Together, we can achieve wonders :)

And our opening movement scene is.... plain superb.
It's a little demanding for some like me, especially when you're not that fit :P
But ya know, just go with the flow, baby.

The song for our opening scene is now on this blog.
If you're wondering, it's titled 'Move This' by Technotronic.
It's pretty catchy.

And I think the secondary one welcome games were a little rushed last week :S
Not sure what we're going to do with them this Tuesday,
since we're busy with SYF and all.

Ah well.
We'll see.

Really appreciate the hard work you've been putting in this week, drama clubbers :)
The Sec One CCA Orientation is just 2 days away,
and so let us work hard to get as many new recruits as possible.
Cheh, recruits. New drama members lah.

As Miss Anne mentioned, we only have tomorrow to brush up on our short Crescendo excerpt.
Please do turn up. We need to practice atleast thrice and sort out the costumes etc.
Time is 1.35 to 2.35, but could take longer.

It's time to get into serious mood as well.
We have started practice for SYF with Miss Amy :)
And I really like our SYF play piece.

In such a busy period, I hope we can all work hard together,
because we can accomplish anything, including a Gold for SYF!

CCA Orientation Video 2009

Yo Drama club members,

I recently made a new video,
my first and hopefully my last.

Why?

Because Windows Movie Maker is such a bugger,
it hung up on me so many times,
and made me so pissy.
Grr! I hate the program :P

But here we go.
We will show the video next year for our secondary one CCA orientation.
Plus, we will perform a short excerpt of our Crescendo item (yes, LIVE).
We can't show the whole Crescendo item because it is too long.

We will rehearse on that when school reopens.

It's not a very good video (What do you expect? It was made by a novice/beginner!),
but I hope you like it anyway.

DRAMA CAMP 2009!

I presume most of you collapsed on your bed after you've reached home today.
I know I did, I told myself I did not want to sleep after showering,
"Aiya, Herman, just lie down on the bed for a while nevermind one lah," my mind calls me.
And so I did, and poof! I fell asleep till 6 this evening.

I am exceptionally proud that we were able to organise and pull off this camp :)
Kudos to everyone who turned up!
How dare Afiqah, Justin and Sherin miss the drama camp.
They will be punished severely. Soon, soon.

Bahaha.

I'm not sure I have much to say now.
Whatever I wanted to say must have already been penned down inside my drama journal.

To put it bluntly, drama camp was superbly marvellously amazingly DRAMATICALLY fun!

The highlight of day 1 was probably murder mystery.
I really enjoyed acting as Master Herman :)
And thank you to the other sec threes and Cheryl and Safiya for helping out with the roles.
Just so you know, the game was planned one day before by me and Seraphina -.-

I hope you juniors enjoyed being investigators.
I felt proud when we heard each and everyone of your explanations and evidences.
I thought it was well thought through, especially Hui xin's and Aisyah's :)

Everything was actually meant to be a distraction.
The only clue was the thumbprint on Lady Seraphina's cup.
You forgot to check our hands for thumbprints.
The only person who had a thumbprint was Madam Kay yee :)

This also proves that you cannot trust what a suspect is saying.
Although Madam Kay yee was calm, petite and a woman of little words,
she was, all in all, the person who killed Lady Seraphina.

Day 2 had many highlights.

The first was probably the Wizard of Oz play.
A little too long, but a very fun musical indeed :)
I think most of us enjoyed it,
especially the winkies (?) with their little guard walk!

Aww, the sad line that Tinman said that made Cheryl almost cry.
She has a crush on the actor -.-

Of course, the second highlight was the reunion with our seniors and graduates!
Boy, it was great to see Nick's batch all over again.
It felt like such a merry and happy moment!

Drama's Annual Camp 2008 is (finally) here!

It will be a 3-day 2-night camp.

Details, as written in your consent forms:

Dates: 13 Nov - 15 Nov (Thu - Sat)
Reporting time: 0900H
Venue: Geography room

You are advised to bring:
- 2 sets of PE attire and shorts
- 2 sets of night clothing
- 1 set of smart casual wear, including shoes (for watching the "Wizard of Oz" play)

And all other neccessary items included in the list of items-to-bring.

- Eating utensils (mug, fork and spoon)
- Personal hygiene and shower items
- Sleeping bag
- Stationary

Please do not bring or wear revealing clothing.
Do not forget to bring $12!

The Last Temptation of Stamford Raffles

Hey dramaclubbers.
Great outing we had today, huh?
Minus all the traffic jam, rushing and kelam-kabut-ing.
:)

And it looks like we had a few schoolmates tagging along today.
Ms Anne probably bought a few too many tickets.
Or maybe it's one of those "buy 25 tickets and get a discount!" kinda thing.
Well then, why didn't she ask the seniors?

The play we watched was sort of hard to interpret, I personally think.
Due to the different languages, accents and what nots.
Even for a highly-intellectual person like me.
Ahaha! Just kidding.
The ending was kind of abrupt too though.

I thought the stage set was cool though.
You could see the unbalanced floor and bed,
which I believe is meant to show how unbalanced and chaotic Raffle's life was at his time of death.
Cheh cheh, literature.

And Justin kept bugging me and Cheryl throughout the play.
"Woah Sera and Kay yee pangseh me!"
"I don't understand what they're saying!"

Hehe, I had a good time.
I don't have that many photos,
and they're not that good either,
but enjoy.

Was tempted to take a video during the bus ride
and force everyone to say hello,
but I'm not that enthu.
Hehe.

Ahh, Raffles Hotel!
Hello drama club members!

After weeks and months of practice and prefection,
yesterday marked the night of our tremendous Crescendo performance.

And there is a reason why our production was placed after the interval.
It was our honoured duty to wake our audience up after their toilet breaks!

I think each and every one of us deserves a pat on the back for a job well done.

Moving on,

I am just sad that this all had to end so quickly.
It would be great if we could be given the chance to perform this production again.

It was great working with all of you,
and I have many fond memories of our final performance,

like how my sarong fell off,
Adlynn's expression after we all said "She's right!" (LOL at that!),
how the audience laughed at every single thing, even the parts that were not meant to be funny!
"I say we chop it down at night!" "HAHAHAHAHAHA!" ???
our little improvisions and so on.

Surprisingly, a few people did not notice that my sarong fell!
My friend Vilashini actually thought that my sarong was meant to be that way!

Also a big thank you to Ms Anne, Mdm Norul and Ms Amy
for sacrificing their time to coach, train and stretch us to our limits.
We have yet to take a photo with Ms Amy!

And of course, thanks to Mdm Lina and the art club for doing up the banyan tree and props,
and also Mdm Hariati for the make-up.
Greatly appreciated :)

Hello my fellow Dramaclubbers!

In the name of spare time, I've decided to redo the entire drama blog.
I hope you like it :)

Anyhoo, my my, what intense training we've had this whole week for the Crescendo concert!
I really love our performance item of 'The Snake in the Banyan Tree'.
We must really thank Ms Amy and our drama teachers for taking their time to practice with us.

Here are the dates for our upcoming practices:

Drama Training
Date: Wednesday, 18th June 2008
Time: 2:00 - 5:00pm
Venue: Music room

Practices with the other performing arts (the entire Crescendo concert)
Date: Friday, 20th June 2008
Time: 8:30 - 12:00pm
Venue: Geog room, school hall
